Oliver is here!

Our baby boy, Oliver Jere Pyburn, was born at home on June 9th at around 10:30 a.m.! Labor started around 1 a.m., and progressed steadily from then on. I was surrounded by lots of love, but I missed having my friend, sister, and doula, Caroline, who was scheduled to fly in the following day. My mother has been here and has been taking care of so many things. I don't know what I'm going to do without her. James also has had time off from work and I'm so grateful to have him home.
This past week we've been focusing on adjusting to our new life with our baby, trying to get enough rest, and get through the hurdles of breast feeding.. So far, so good!

Here are pictures from the last month, beginning with the most recent.

Sasha pretending to be a butterfly, while we sat outside and got some sun with Oliver:

Caroline and her beautiful daughter, Shanti:

Taking turns holding Oliver:

And handing out lots of kisses:

Sasha loves being a big sister and wants to hold Oliver every chance she gets:

When he was 3 days old we went blueberry picking! Later my mom made blueberry crisp, and the following morning we had pancakes with blueberry syrup!

Caroline brought Sasha some great activities. This was extremely helpful as Sasha was happily occupied while we attended to Oliver. Here they were working on making a felt book with felt dolls and other fun things:

Mima has spent lots of time with Sasha.
Reading together:

Here they are writing notes to each other and waiting patiently for Oliver to arrive:

Sasha teaching Mima the sign language we've learned to use with Oliver:

Building houses together:

Some older ones. Here Sasha is writing in her notepad while waiting for Daddy to come out of his office:

Building a house with some frames that James made for her. This is a Waldorf inspired activity. She clamps silk cloths to these wooden frames and makes little houses for herself and her dolls:

We got into rock painting again:

Some of our creations:

She had a play date a few weeks ago. Here are some pics of her friends and some of the activities from that day:

  1. I absolutely adore that there is a picture of James holding Oliver that is so reminiscent of the one where he is holding Sasha when she is also a newborn.....
